Institute of Equal Rights and Opportunities (IERO) was founded in November 1996 by Kyrgyz-Russian (Slavonic) University, association of independent scientist-lawyers of Kyrgyz Republic, Public movement " Precepts of Manas - XXI century " (Ministry of Justice N 4497-3300-У-е 06.03.97).

Kyrgyz Republic being a sovereign democratic state, has fixed in the Constitution principles of the basic human rights and freedom. The interest toward formation of national mechanisms of human rights protection and toward problem of social equality and partnership of the men and women has increased. Activity of Institute of the equal rights and opportunities can be considered as a duly and necessary step in realization of the Concept of stable development Kyrgyz Republic.
